Abstract:

Cardiovascular disease is a type of disease with high incidence, disability, and mortality rates, which seriously threatens human health and imposes a huge economic and health burden on society. At present, there are countless studies on cardiovascular diseases, but the pathogenesis is still unclear. The involvement of TLRs in the occurrence and development of chronic inflammation in cardiovascular disease has been supported by experimental and preclinical data. Toll like receptor 7 (TLR7), as a key member of TLRs, can recognize bacterial, viral sources, and its own nucleic acids, and activate inflammatory responses through the myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) pathway to mediate immune responses. This review summarized the research progress of TLR7 in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, myocarditis and cardiomyopathy, hypertension and pulmonary hypertension, and its potential as a drug target for cardiovascular diseases, in order to provide new ideas for clinical treatment of diseases.

Key words: Toll-like receptor 7, cardiovascular diseases, innate immunity, inflammation
