Abstract: In this study, strain BRC-XYT1 with cytotoxic activity to Monochamus alternatus Hope larva, was isolated from withered woods. Based on the morphological observation, biochemical and physiological characterization and phylogenetic analysis of its 16S rDNA gene sequence, BRC-XYT1 was identied as one of the strains of Bacillus sp.. When tested with drug sensitive test, strain BRC-XYT1 possessed different levels of sensitivity to a number of common medicine. Besides, strain BRC-XYT1 showed signicant insecticidal activity to Monochamus alternatus Hope larva based on the bioassay data. This study reserved new resource for controlling pine wilt disease and it also provided a theoretical base for the effective development of novel biological pest control agents.
